Reading 1: Rom 13:8-10 Resp: Ps 112:1b-2, 4-5, 9 Gospel: Luke 14:25-33

Reading 1: Rom 13:8-10 Brothers and sisters: You should owe nothing to anyone, except so as to love one another. For whoever loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. For example: You shall not commit adultery. You shall not kill. You shall not steal. You shall not speak false testimony. You shall not covet. And if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this word: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The love of neighbor does no harm. Therefore, love is the plenitude of the law.
Responsorial Psalm: Ps 112:1b-2, 4-5, 9 R. ( 5a) Blessed the man who is gracious and lends to those in need.
Blessed is the one who fears the Lord: he shall delight exceedingly in his commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the righteous shall be blessed. R. Blessed the man who is gracious and lends to those in need.
To the righteous a light is risen up in darkness: he is merciful, and compassionate and just. Acceptable is the man that shows mercy and lends: he shall order his words with judgment: R. Blessed the man who is gracious and lends to those in need.
He has distributed, he has given to the poor: his justice remains for ever and ever: his horn shall be exalted in glory. R. Blessed the man who is gracious and lends to those in need.
Alleluia: 1 Pt 4:14 R. Alleluia, alleluia. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of God rests upon you. R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel: Luke 14:25-33 Now great crowds traveled with him. And turning around, he said to them: “If anyone comes to me, and does not prioritize me over his father, mother, wife, children, brothers, sisters, and even his own life, he is not able to be my disciple. And whoever does not bear his cross and come after me, is not able to be my disciple. For who among you, wanting to build a tower, would not first sit down and determine the costs that are required, to see if he has the means to complete it? Otherwise, after he has laid the foundation and not been able to finish it, everyone who sees it may begin to mock him, saying: ‘This man began to build what he was not able to finish.’ Or, what king, advancing to engage in war against another king, would not first sit down and consider whether he may be able, with ten thousand, to meet one who comes against him with twenty thousand? If not, then while the other is still far away, sending a delegation, he would ask him for terms of peace. Therefore, every one of you who does not renounce all that he possesses is not able to be my disciple."
