Citadel will be declaring bankruptcy very soon, they escaped once back in 2008 by pure luck, but lightning doesn't strike in the same spot twice.
Citadel escaped 2008 by the skin of their teeth, losing hundreds of millions every week, trying to cut bailout deals, firing staff and doing anything they could to hang on.
In the end, citadel got very lucky and survived, however, Ken Griffin hasn't learnt his lesson from 2008, still using the same kind of leverage, still trying to short companies into the ground, and still using total return swaps which just blew up Archegos Capital Management.
This time round, citadel won't get so lucky due to the existence of social media, and ken griffin will soon be known not as the man that lost $8bn, but the man that lost hundreds of billions of $.
