Most of the global investment banks increased base salaries and bonuses for their analysts, associates, vice presidents, directors and managing directors in 2021, but then did so again in January 2022. Reasons for the increases include strong revenues on the back of increased investment banking activity during the global pandemic, a worsening of work/life balance as everyone was working from home and so somewhat available 24/7, other industries offering competitive salaries, and more.
